The marksman: How Donegal's players fared against Clare in Ennis

After a sketchy first half hour or so, when they trailed 0-5 to 0-1 at a stage, Donegal got things in order to produce a much better showing in the second half to win against Clare in Ennis on Saturday

All’s well that ends well and that was the case in Ennis on Saturday when Donegal came from four down in the first half to outscore Clare 0-11 to 0-3 in the second half to win their opening game in the All-Ireland SFC series.

After defeat to Down in the Ulster SFC quarter-final and relegation beforehand from Division 1 of the All-County Football League, it was a confidence-boosting 0-14 to 0-9 win for Aidan O’Rourke’s young team, who had three first time championship starters in John Ross Molloy, Odhran Doherty and Rory O’Donnell. The win puts Donegal in a decent position of, at worst, reaching the last 12 play-off round with Derry to come to Ballybofey and then a clash with Monaghan in the third set of fixtures. Here's how the players rated in Ennis.
