All’s well that ends well and that was the case in Ennis on Saturday when Donegal came from four down in the first half to outscore Clare 0-11 to 0-3 in the second half to win their opening game in the All-Ireland SFC series.
After defeat to Down in the Ulster SFC quarter-final and relegation beforehand from Division 1 of the All-County Football League, it was a confidence-boosting 0-14 to 0-9 win for Aidan O’Rourke’s young team, who had three first time championship starters in John Ross Molloy, Odhran Doherty and Rory O’Donnell. The win puts Donegal in a decent position of, at worst, reaching the last 12 play-off round with Derry to come to Ballybofey and then a clash with Monaghan in the third set of fixtures. Here's how the players rated in Ennis.
