Donegal's Daire Ó Baoill scores his side's second goal against Derry in Celtic Park last Saturday
Dáire Ó Baoill's outstanding performance on the field last weekend earned him the prestigious title of GAA.ie Player of the Week.
Representing the Gaoth Dobhair club, he showcased his prowess during Donegal's 4-11 to 0-17 point victory over Derry in the Ulster Championship quarter-final at Celtic Park last Saturday.
During the intense match, Ó Baoill contributed significantly, scoring a total of 2-1 in the process. His first goal was a skillful lob over Derry's goalkeeper Odhran Lynch, which came after a precise pass from teammate Ryan McHugh.
In the second half, Ó Baoill demonstrated his proficiency again, capitalising on a well-executed play initiated by Shaun Patton from a long kickout.
The GAA community recognised Ó Baoill's exceptional performance, as evidenced by the 3,718 votes he garnered on the GAA’s Official Instagram page. This significant support placed him ahead of other notable contenders, including Ryan O’Donoghue of Mayo who won 2.157 votes, and Rob Finnerty of Galway who got 1,895 votes.
Donegal will now look towards the Ulster semi-final, where they are set to face Tyrone in Celtic Park this Sunday.
