Oisin Doherty says Four Masters had to show real grit to overcome Fr Rocks of Cookstown in the Ulster Minor Football Tournament semi-final in Belfast. 

Theo Colhoun’s 59th-minute goal put the seal on Masters' third last-four win in-a-row as they progressed 1-12 to 0-8 on the Shaw’s Road. And the Donegal Town side will now play Magherafelt on New Year’s Day. 

“It’s the third year in a row we’ve been up here and the buzz is serious,” said Doherty after. “The support has been great and we’re thankful for that as the journey is a long one from Donegal. 

“It’ll give us all something to look forward to and there will be a buzz around the town as well which is great at this stage of the year.

“It probably wasn’t the best game to watch but it’s a semi-final and they are all about winning. Our defence really put their bodies on the line and we owe them a lot.

“Maybe the wee bit of experience we had told today. We have that same routine from the last two seasons, same, bus, same stops and same preparation on the pitch. 

“It’s small stuff but it’s working. The scenes last year after winning the final were amazing and to replicate that would be unbelievable.  But we are under no illusions, we are going to have to really lift it for the final”.
