A fourth win from six showed the positives of Glenfin on their return to Division 1, winning their latest encounter by seven points in Ardara.

Ardara 1-11
Glenfin 2-15

Ardara began the game brightly and ex county star Paddy McGrath angled over a fine effort. But that was as good as it got for a badly outgunned home team.

Glenfin hit back in a heartbeat with the Ardara defence wide open as Frank McGlynn ran through unchallenged and slipped the ball to centre forward Jason Morrow who hit a superb goal.

It was all Glenfin thereafter as Ardara struggled to cope with the visitors' lightning counter attacks. Ciaran Brady and the gifted Luke McGlynn stretched the lead as it took the home side a full 16 minutes to register their first score.

It got even better for the visitors when yet another move ended with Cavan native Ciaran Brady finishing a six-man move to the net to put Glenfin into a 2-6 to 0-2 lead-a lead that Ardara never looked like overhauled.

But their corner-back Gary Herron was lucky to stay on the pitch following a matter where Ardara’s Zac Gallagher ended up on the ground. Glenfin deservedly led by 2-8 to 0-4 at the break.

Ardara turned over with the breeze and scored 1-7 in the second half without ever really troubling the Glenfin rearguard. Full-forward CJ Molloy hit 0-3 and was a driving force and set up his side’s goal in the 36th minute when he broke the ball down to Callum Malley who netted. That reduced the Glenfin lead to 2-10 to 1-4. Ardara tried hard to narrow the gap but the East Donegal man eased to a fairly comfortable win.
