It was not to be a Donegal treble as Naomh Conaill just failed at the final hurdle of the Comórtas Peil na Gaeltachta senior final in Leitir Móir.

Naomh Conaill 0-11

Beal Atha an Ghaorthaigh 2-9

Naomh Conaill recovered after conceding a goal in the opening minutes of the final to hit four points to go one up by the 10th minute.

Their scores came from Seamus Corcoran, Odhran and Eunan Doherty and Charlie McGuinness.

A further point from McGuinness after a high ball in from Odhrán Doherty had the score at 0-5 to 1-1 at the end of the first quarter but the Donegal side would not score again in the half.

Beal Atha an Ghaorthaigh took over to add six unanswered points. At the end of the half the Cork side were through for a second goal but Stephen McGrath made a wonderful stop, while in the last action of the half Charlie McGuiness was denied a goal by just inches.

Half-time: Naomh Conaill 0-5, Beal Atha an Ghaortaigh 1-7.

Despite losing Brendan McDyer to a straight red card early in the second half, Naomh Conaill reduced the deficit to just a point with points from Dermot Molloy (2) and two from Charlie McGuinness.

Beal Atha an Ghaorthaigh went three ahead but again points from a McGuinness '45' and a wonderful long range effort from Odhrán Doherty cut the deficit to the minimum again, but a second goal killed the game for the Cork side. It took the wind out of Naomh Conaill's sails and they also added the final point for a deserved win.

Naomh Conaill scorers: Charles McGuinness 0-5,’45’,2f; Odhrán Doherty, Dermot Molloy 0-2 each; Seamus Corcoran, Eunan Doherty 0-1 each.
