Stephen McBrearty of Kilcar gets away from Naomh Conaill's Kieran Gallagher and Dermot Molloy during the rearranged 2020 Donegal SFC final
Kilcar’s 0-17 to 1-8 win over Glenfin in the last series of fixtures of the All-County Football League Division 1 has set up a final which is understood to be pencilled in for Fintra on Saturday week.
Conor Cunnigham’s side needed a result to ensure their passage to the decider and a meeting with Naomh Conaill after Aodh Ruadh were awarded a walkover victory over Termon, who did not travel on Friday night.
The final is due to be contested on Saturday, July 23, as part of a double-header with the Division 1B final between Naomh Conaill and Glenswilly. All throw-in times are also yet to be confirmed.
On Saturday in Division 1 with Michael Murphy on tow, Glenswilly won 1-18 to 1-5 at Ardara to relegate the Kentucky side to Division 2 along with Termon. Glenswilly now take on Killybegs in the relegation play-off, also on Saturday week, which is expected to throw-in at lunchtime at Davy Brennan Memorial Parkin Glenties.
Malin drew with Buncrana 2-9 to 1-12 at the Scarvey, to ensure promotion from Division 2 for Michael Byrne’s team, although they will have to wait to see who joins them, Downings or MacCumhaill’s locked on the same points - with the Seasiders having won the head-to-head. Milford are in the promotion play-off. Downings are away to Buncrana with MacCumhaill's playing St Naul's.
At the bottom, St Naul’s and Moville are up against it, but not down just yet, while Red Hugh’s, St Mary’s Convoy and Letterkenny Gaels are all in the scrap.
Burt won Division 3 on Sunday when they defeated Naomh Bríd 0-12 to 0-10 having decided to scrap the dead-rubber league fixture between the two and proceed with the final.
Naomh Muire and Na Rossa will be in the play-off on Saturday week, possibly in Dungloe in the afternoon as the host club are down to play Letterkenny Gaels in the evening - as part of a bill that would include the Division 3B play-off between Naomh Muire and Burt. The Division 4 final will take place this coming Saturday, July 16, between Naomh Conaill and Glenswilly, at Na Rossa.
