Colm McFadden following his goal against Dublin in the 2014 All-Ireland semi-final
Donegal’s 2012 All-Ireland winner Colm McFadden has been added to the management team with Sligo.
The St Michael’s clubman will join Tony McEntee’s backroom team as a forward coach at the Connacht county, who finished last season in third place in Division 4 of the Allianz League a point behind Tipperary and two off Cavan.
McFadden is also part of the Donegal U-20 set-up under new manager Leo McLoone and alongside Eamon McGee and Owenie McGarvey.
Sligo defeated New York in the Connacht Championship this year 1-16 to 0-15 before losing out to Roscommon on a 0-23 to 0-11 scoreline in their provincial semi-final. In the inaugural Tailteann Cup, Sligo overcame London and Leitrim before losing out in the semi-final to Cavan 0-20 to 1-14 at Croke Park.
McFadden lined out 173 times for Donegal between 2002 and 2016 and won three Ulster SFC crowns and the 2012 All-Ireland - the same year he was nominated for Footballer of the Year. He is the current deputy principal of St Eunan's College in Letterkenny, where he has managed teams.
