Meeting to establish Community First Responder Group in Annagry

The parish of Anagaire will hold a public meeting to establish a Community First Responder Group (CFR).

The meeting will be held on February 19 at 8pm in Scioból an Phobail, Mín an Craoibhe. The HSE will be present on the night to outline what is involved in setting up a group like this.

According to the HSE, Community First Responders are volunteers who are trained to attend certain types of emergency calls in the area where they live or work, which is what Anagaire are hoping to have if all goes well at the meeting.

There are some qualifications people must have in order to volunteer, including being over the age of 18, having a Garda vetting, as well as having access to a fully insured, licensed vehicle or transport enabling you to reach the patient within the assigned time and radius. There is no medical experience necessary as all training will be provided by the scheme.

Organisers encourage anyone who would be interested in volunteering in this type of work to come along to the meeting, where they will learn all that is involved.
