The discarded carpet found on the N56 outside of Dunfanaghy
The Cathaoirleach of the Glenties Municipal District has wondered how people think it's acceptable to dump items like carpets on the roadside.
Independent Councillor Michael McClafferty said the item was found going through Ballymore by Dunfanaghy volunteers.
"We all have a part to play in disposing of our waste with responsibility and care," he said. "There are many volunteers, such as the Dunfanaghy group, among other towns, who give up a lot of their time each week to clean up their areas as well as side roads, main roads etc, including the N56.

"And we thank each and every one of them greatly for doing so each time they go out. But really, this is too much when people think it's alright to throw carpets out along our roads, such as the N56, which Dunfanaghy Volunteers came across recently. Please use your recycling centres, bottle banks, etc, and think of others before you dump waste again."
