A book of evidence has been served on a Convoy man who is charged with assault causing harm.

Kyle Leeper will go on trial over the serious assault in February 2022.

Leeper was before Letterkenny District Court on Monday. The court heard that a book of evidence was served at 11.08am.

Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has consented for the accused to be forwarded for trial to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court, which commences on October 17 next.

Leeper, a 24-year-old man from Carrickbrack, Convoy, is charged with assaulting Don Rowan and causing him harm on February 20, 2022 at Lower Main Street, Letterkenny.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham made an order returning Leeper for trial and made a section 56 order relating to tapes of interviews. Judge Cunningham administered the alibi warning.

Legal aid was granted to solicitor Mr Donough Cleary and one legal counsel was assigned.
