Ballybofey-based Care Centre provides 'a good quality service' says HIQA

Ballybofey-based care centre received good inspection review

A Ballybofey-based care centre received a glowing review from the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA), finding that residents in the centre received “a good quality service.”

Dreenan Designated Centre, a five-bedroom bungalow and is located within a campus setting which contains six other designated centres, was marked as compliant in all but one of the 17 categories inspected, with the odd category out being marked as substantially compliant.

The HSE welcomed the report into Dreenan Designated Centre by HIQA, and said it remained committed to “maintaining a high-quality service within Dreenan Designated Centre.”

An unannounced inspection took place in March 2025, with the HIQA report published in July.

The report stated that the needs of the residents had been identified, appropriate supports were put in place, the service was delivered by a consistent team of staff that had up-to-date training and that the centre was well-suited to the needs of the residents.

Garden features and ornaments had been placed in the garden by residents, which were “reflective of their choice and interests”, and the centre was described as “warm, bright, and comfortable.”

There was only a slight concern that the kitchen of the centre was not accessible to all residents, although the care centre had responded that “a review of the kitchen facilities has been completed and it has been agreed that his work is no longer required at present due to the number of residents in the centre and this weel be reassessed in line with the decongregation.”
