RTÉs Sean O’Rourke, well known to have a soft spot for County Donegal, is going to open a magnificent new facility in the county at Doe Castle on Saturday -- and he’s going to get there in some style.
Sean will travel to the Castle in a pony and trap owned by local man Eamon Coyle. Going via pony and trap is very much in keeping with the history of the magnificent castle.
Sean will be there via horsepower to launch the new visitor experience this Saturday at 11am .
New information panels tell the story of the building of the castle and the lives of some of the people who lived there over its 500 year history.
A local group 'Moving Mevagh Forward', invite all to the launch.
There are free guided tours of Doe Castle available at the weekends on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during July and August between 11am and 5pm and on Saturday you may even get the chance to turn the tables on Sean, and ask him a few tough questions - and he’s good on sport too, with a great interest in the highs and lows of the Donegal senior football team.
Meanwhile Doe Castle grounds are open to the public 7 days a week all year round, from 10am until 6pm.
