€3m extension opened at Deele College, Raphoe

A €3 million euro extension to Deele College has been officially opened today.
The extension was opened by Donegal TD and minister for state Joe McHugh.
Guests included Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, Right Reverend Ken Good, and the school's retired principal Mr PJ McGowan.
Hundreds of people attended the event including past pupils and staff, clergy, parents of pupils, members of the Donegal Education and Training Board (ETB) and current staff and pupils.
School principal Joe Boyle said the entire school environment had been refreshed and modernised by the extension.
The 2,000m square metre extension was constructed by Glebe Builders of Donegal Town and designed by Halligan Brady Architects, Cavan.
The extension got the go ahead three years ago from the Department of Education and Skills but planning for it started as far back as 2002.
The school extension was officially opened with a ecumenical blessing involving Canon Denis McGettigan, Reverend Craig Wilson and Bishop Good, who said the wider community is proud of the school.
Philip Brady of Brady, Halligan Architects said the project was a challenging and rewarding one to work on.
Chair of the Donegal ETB, Geoffrey Browne, thanked everyone involved in the project and encouraged students to make the best of their time in the school.
Chief Executive of the Donegal ETB, Anne McHugh, paid tribute to retired principal PJ McGowan for his foresight and dedication in bringing the extension forward.
Deputy McHugh said the school is "embracing change, looking to do new things and looking to the future".
