Navenny car park, Ballybofey
Four new electric parking fast charging points with bays are to be provided at the Navenny Street car park in Ballybofey.
Cllr Martin Harley announced the news at the last meeting of the Lifford-Stranorlar Municipal District. He asked the council to consider providing a new footpath out of the car park at this point as he felt it would encourage people to use it more.
He also asked that the council not impose parking fees on people who were charging their vehicles.
"We have to encourage people to move to electric cars as part of climate change measures and it would not be fair asking to pay parking charges while they paid for electric charging at the same time."
He added this policy could be reviewed in 10 years to see if charging could then be introduced.
Council engineer, Claire McGeever said they would look at Cllr Harley's footpath proposal.
"We will take a look at it to see what is involved," she said.
