Inishowen Development Partnership said they had an "unforgettable talk" with Armagh All-Ireland winner Oisin McConville.

McConville was speaking at the Clonmany Festival Health and Wellbeing Day. The Crossmaglen native has been manager of the Wicklow county team since 2022. McConville played at senior level for the Armagh county team in the 1990s and 2000s. He won an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medal, seven Ulster Championships and a National League title with the county. He was also awarded two All-Stars.

McConville played club football for Crossmaglen Rangers and won six All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championships, ten Ulster Senior Club Football Championships and 16 Armagh Senior Football Championships with the club.

"An unforgettable day," Inishowen Development Partnership posted. "Oisín opened up about his struggles with a gambling addiction which he developed at a young age to the height of his GAA career. He spoke about the difficult road to rebuilding trust with his family, and how learning to deal with his emotions changed everything.

"His courage, vulnerability, and insight reminded us all of the importance of speaking out, seeking help, and never giving up on yourself or your loved ones. A truly inspirational message that touched everyone in the room."

Inishowen Development Partnership is a local development organisation that works to achieve positive change in the lives of people and groups in Inishowen.
