The Carndonagh Tidy Town Group held its annual prizegiving recently, with all prizes generously sponsored by SuperValu in Carndonagh.

The following winners were all awarded prizes: Butterbean Restaurant; Persian Bar; Doherty’s (Fintan’s); Mary Gillen; Denise Donaghy; Annette Middleton; Anna Carr; Paul Martin; 23 Cedar Grove; Jacqui Rooney; Sadie Houten; Jim McCarron; Mary Doherty; Jimmy and Betty McLaughlin; Martin Berry; John Sweeney; Brendan and Carmel Boyle; Noreen Donaghy; Joan Doherty; Joanne O’Donnell James McLaughlin (H); Paddy McDonough; and Rose Doherty.

Carn Tidy Towns warmly congratulates all the winners and encourages all home and business owners to continue to upkeep their premises and gardens.

“We thank all those who contributed throughout the year, including a weekend rota of volunteer litter pickers, who supplement the work carried out by CE staff. We hope to make greater strides this year, and we urge members of the Carn community to consider joining the local Tidy Towns effort,” a spokesperson said.

“We also undertake many other activities to improve our town, such as weeding the pavements and flower beds, cutting grass on all of the approach roads, tree planting, hedge cutting, painting walls and fences, improving the appearance of derelict sites and working with the local Councillors and Donegal County Council on many other improvement projects. When it comes to painting, if you are refreshing your own premises, we love to see bright colours appearing around the town.”

They added: “We are managed by a very small and ageing committee. We are constantly looking for new members to help out in any way they can, be it painting, gardening or collecting litter. Many hands make light work!”

“We would particularly welcome some younger members who could help build our social media presence and work to develop relations with schools, sports clubs and other bodies. Please contact a committee member if you can give any assistance.”
