Inish Theatre Group is issuing a public update following its recent protest concerning the ongoing and 'unacceptable' delays to the renovation of Buncrana Community Hospital.

The group says that repeated efforts to seek clarity have failed to provide any.

A spokesperson said the most recent communication indicated that works would commence in the first quarter of this year, however there’s no sign of any construction starting.

“Adding to the confusion, we were previously informed that delays were due to complications relating to a new kitchen installation. However, we have now been advised that this explanation is incorrect, further highlighting a lack of transparency and consistency in communication,” an Inish Theatre Group spokesperson said.

They added: “At this stage, our frustration has turned to anger. We are ordinary members of the public who expect and deserve accountability and decisive action. The continued lack of progress and clear communication has become an embarrassment.”

The group is calling for immediate and transparent communication, as well as a clear and realistic timeline for the commencement and completion of works.

“If our concerns continue to be ignored, we will have no choice but to escalate our actions. As demonstrated by previous national movements, we are prepared to mobilise in significant numbers and bring this issue directly to Dublin.”

“We will also consider sustained protest action until our community is heard. Enough is enough. Buncrana and the wider community deserve better,” a spokesperson said.
