Children in Crossfire announce sunrise cycle in September

“While it is quite a challenging route, it is very manageable for cyclists of all ages and abilities" states Richard Moore CEO of Children in Crossfire

Children in Crossfire announce sunrise cycle for Sunday September 29

The fourth annual sunrise cycle for Children in Crossfire will take place on Sunday September 29 between Derry and Buncrana.

Children in Crossfire Chief Executive Richard Moore is encouraging local people to sign up for the charity’s cycle

Gathering by the Foyle at Sainsbury’s Meadowbank in Derry from 6:30am, as the sun comes up cyclists will make their way along Lough Swilly to Swan Park in Buncrana and back.

“I am very much looking forward to once again taking part in this early morning 26-mile challenge from Derry to Buncrana and back.” Stated Richard Moore.

“While it is quite a challenging route, it is very manageable for cyclists of all ages and abilities. As previous years have shown, it’s also a lot of fun and a great way to support Children in Crossfire.

“I encourage anyone who’s interested to get in touch and sign up. You will be helping us to deliver lifesaving and life-shaping programmes for children, families and communities in Ethiopia and Tanzania. For example, we are currently building a project that supports young children in inner-city Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s largest city. We are ensuring the most disadvantaged children in those communities receive the education, healthcare and nutrition that all children deserve. Participants in the Sunrise Cycle will know they are fundraising to support this crucial work.

“As always, we are very grateful to Gregory McLaughlin and GBS for their sponsorship. Gregory is a terrific friend of Children in Crossfire, and the Sunrise Cycle can only happen thanks to his kind support.”

Event organiser Shauna O’Neill added:

“The Sunrise Cycle is now in its fourth year and has become a fixture in Children in Crossfire’s fundraising calendar.”

“This is always a well-attended and fun event. All participants will get free tea or coffee in Buncrana, as well as a hot breakfast in Patricia’s Café on Derry’s quay at the end. I would urge anyone interested in taking part to sign up now or get in touch with me for a chat. Together, we will make this our biggest and best Sunrise Cycle yet.”
