Almost €11,000 has been raised in memory of a much-loved Moville musician who passed away last year.
Jim Thompson, who had lived in Carndonagh for many years, died in July 2024 following a long-fought battle with cancer.
He was a talented multi-instrumentalist and drummer who played in numerous rock bands across Inishowen over the decades.
Jim was also a member of the Carndonagh Brass Band, becoming the group’s resident trombone player.
His generous friends and family have since rallied to raise money for charity in his honour.
The recent Jam for Jim fundraising night at the Ballyliffin Lodge helped raise €10,886.49 for the Friends of Inishowen Hospice charity.
The money was donated recently. Thank you to everyone who donated to this worthy cause. Pictured at the cheque presentation were, from left, Gertie Monagle, Ann Thompson Owens, David Casey, Mary Thompson, Dave O’Connor, Patricia Collins and Catherine Monagle.
