The Relay for Life 2025 Presentation Night in Letterkenny revealed that this year’s event raised €222,831, which means the total earnings since 2012 for the Irish Cancer Society have now broken the €2million mark.

Volunteers, former committee members and guests were at the Mount Errigal Hotel in Letterkenny to hear the announcement. Since coming to Donegal 13 years ago, €2,048,106 has been raised.

“To have raised over €2 million is absolutely incredible!” Relay for Life posted. “A huge thank you to everyone who has been involved in Relay over the years - you all have made this possible! There are so many people to thank that it would take all night!

“But special mention goes to (past and present) our teams, our volunteers, our survivors choir, our entertainers and our committee! To the Mount Errigal Hotel and of course, all at the ATU!”

Relay for Life is a global fundraising event and movement that brings communities together to raise awareness and funds for cancer research and support services by celebrating cancer survivors, remembering those lost, and fighting back against cancer.

Participants form teams and take turns walking around a track for an extended period, often 24 hours, with key components including survivor laps, a Candle of Hope ceremony to honour lost loved ones, and a focus on action to end cancer. This year’s Relay for Life took place at ATU Donegal in Letterkenny in May.
