Shane Blaney of Sligo Rovers in action during the UEFA Europa Conference League against Motherwell in July
Letterkenny native Shane Blaney was on the substitutes' bench for Motherwell for the first time today since his move from Sligo Rovers.
The central defender's move to the Scottish Premiership side was officially through on New Year's Day and he was straight into the squad at Livingston, although will have to wait to make his debut.
David Martindale's Motherwell side went in front on 39 minutes through a Morgan Boyes header, but Kevin Van Veen's got the hosts back on terms three minutes later. Livingston's Nicky Devlin had a retaken penalty saved by Liam Kelly after bundling home the rebound of the first attempt. The result means Motherwell are in 10th place in the 12-team Premiership and are home to Hibernian on Saturday.
Last summer, Blaney, 23, scored a cracking free kick when Sligo Rovers defeated Motherwell 2-0 in the Europa Conference League at the Showgrounds. He moved to Doncaster in 2018 after breaking through at Finn Harps and spent the last two seasons at Sligo.
