A teenager has died following a crash in Kerrykeel.

Gardaí are currently at the scene of the fatal road traffic collision that occurred in Kerrykeel in the early hours of this morning, Saturday.

The single vehicle collision occurred shortly after 3.30am when a car collided with a pole on the roadside. The male driver of the car, aged 19 years, was fatally injured during the collision. His body has been removed from the scene.

A passenger who was travelling in the same vehicle is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The R246 road in Ranny is currently closed to allow for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct a technical examination of the scene. Diversions via the R247 and R245  Rathmullan and Milford roads have been put in place. Traffic are requested to avoid this road where possible.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R246 between Kerrykeel and Milford this morning between 3.00am and 4.00am are asked to contact Gardaí,” they said.
