The Letterkenny Branch of Comhaltas, Comhaltas Leitir Ceanainn, are delighted to announce the return of Turas Ceoil Traidisiúnta, the Traditional Music Trail.
The event takes place on Saturday, April 6, from 11am to 5pm. The Branch held this event for the first time in August 2021 and it proved a great success.
There will be free entertainment on the street during the day including musicians, dancers, actors and much, much more. This year as well as music sessions throughout Main Street, there will be street performers from Northwest Events, including actors and face painters.
There will also be an opportunity to learn how to make toys and crosses using rushes with Steffi Otto, and you may even see a few miniature animals around the square.
Local historian, Kieran Kelly, will lead a historical tour of the town, commencing at 2:30pm at St Eunan’s Cathedral.
Letterkenny is a town steeped in history, dating back to Plantation times and before and this guided walk will be a fantastic opportunity to learn about the history of Letterkenny for both locals and visitors alike. This is a free event and all musicians are most welcome to join any of the sessions that they come across.
“Hopefully, the weather will be more pleasant than in recent days but if not, grab a coat and umbrella and join in in what promises to be a great afternoon’s entertainment and family day in Letterkenny,” event organisers said. “So spread the word and join Comhaltas Leitir Ceanainn on Saturday.”
