Drug-driver arrested by Letterkenny Gardaí after speed detection

Officers from the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit issued 11 fixed charge penalty notices for speeding offences on Bank Holiday Monday

Tipperary gardaí make suspected drink and drug driving arrests

A drug-driver was arrested on Bank Holiday Monday by Letterkenny Gardaí.

The motorist in question was initially stopped for a speeding office.

The driver was traveling in excess of a 50km/h speed limit governing a road on which there are ongoing roadworks.

Officers from the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit carried out a roadside test and the driver tested positive before being arrested.

Letterkenny Gardai issued 11 fixed charge penalty notices for speeding offences in a 100km/h zone.

Among those were a driver detected at 138km/h and another who was clocked at 137km/h.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Do not take unnecessary risks on the roads. Get home safely this evening. Slow down.”
