Costs for text alert committees raised

Text alert committees looking for assistance

A call to have the Department of Justice pay for the costs of texts on behalf of text alert committees was raised by Cllr Patrick McGowan at the last meeting of Donegal County Council.

He asked for an update on his earlier calls for the council's Joint Policing Committee to make this happen and an update for CCTV installation in various towns throughout the county.

He was informed that the Joint Policing Committee approved applications to be submitted to the Department of Justice under the Community Based CCTV Scheme for both Letterkenny and Ballybofey/Stranorlar at its September meeting. These applications are currently being finalised with a view to the formal submission of both applications.

His response added the costs associated text alert scheme can be raised at a future Joint Policing Committee meeting.
