Planning permission is being sought for development works and an extension at the Ringfort Inn at Darney, Bruckless.

The application by Robert Lynch is for an extension consisting of 15 bedrooms, as well as an extension to the kitchen, bar and main entrance.

It also includes the installation of a new treatment system and polishing filter, and all associated siteworks and landscaping.

Built in 2002, the Ringfort Inn is located just off the N56 and the Wild Atlantic Way near Bruckless, around eight km from Killybegs and 20 km from Donegal Town. It has commanding views of the Donegal mountains and coastline, and across the bay to Sligo and Leitrim.

The original 1,421㎡building which was put up for sale in November 2015 consisted of 10 en suite bedrooms, a lounge bar, a dining / function room and a 280 person ballroom.

The Ringfort Inn now looks set for an exciting new chapter, with the potential to be a stunning boutique hotel.

Within a comfortable driving distance of must-see tourism spots such as Sliabh Liag, Glencolmcille and St John’s Point, it is perfectly located to be a great base for those exploring south and west Donegal.

The Ringfort Inn will also be a fantastic location for those who enjoy swimming, fishing and watersports, or who want to escape the stresses of everyday life in a beautiful corner of Donegal.

If plans for the extension and development works come to fruition, the Ringfort Inn will be a great addition to the stock of tourist accommodation in south Donegal. And it will be a welcome boost for employment and the local economy.
