Council vote to suspend Cllr Frank McBrearty Jnr from today's meeting
Independent Raphoe-based councillor, Frank McBrearty Jnr has been suspended from this morning's meeting of Donegal County Council.
The gathering was initially adjourned following a war of words between the cathaoirleach, Cllr Liam Blaney and Cllr McBrearty Jnr over several issues including the provision of houses in the county, defective blocks and procedures.
Cllr Blaney warned Cllr McBrearty Jnr several times about the content of his contributions claiming they were not relevant to the items under discussion while Cllr McBrearty Jnr accused Cllr Blaney of attempting to silence him by not allowing him to address the issues.
Following an adjournment, the meeting took a vote and 30 councillors voted in favour of suspending Cllr McBrearty Jnr from the meeting. Cllr McBrearty Jnr voted against while another independent councillor, Micheal Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig abstained.
The meeting ended with Cllr McBrearty Jnr saying silencing him would not stop him from exposing corruption.
