St Johnston family launch touching fundraiser after double bereavement

The late Gary Crossan and May Browne will be honoured by their family with a climb up Errigal in July.

A St Johnston family that suffered two deaths through cancer earlier this year has embarked on a fundraising venture.

Gary Crossan died in the Donegal Hospice on January 7 and almost exactly a month later his mother-in-law May Browne, also late of Creatland, St Johnston, lost her battle with cancer at Letterkenny University Hospital on February 8.

The bereaved family has organised a clim up Errigal on July 1.

The climb will get underway at 10am and proceeds will be donated to the Donegal Hospice.

After the climb, refreshments will be served in the Fisherman’s Inn with some top prizes on offer.

Sponsor cards are available through the family while tickets at €5 per line will be sold for the raffle.

Gary Crossan was survived by his wife Marie and sons Caolan, Conur and Cormac, who suffered further loss when their mother and grandmother May Browne died in February.

Predeceased by son Seamus, May was survived by husband Harry, son Damien, daughters Marie and Caroline, grandchildren Caolan, Zach, Conur, Caitlin, Cormac, Tori, Harry and Hollie, brothers Lexie, Eamonn and Liam Ross and sister Celine.
