Iryna's winning entry
A second-year student at Finn Valley College, Stranorlar has been awarded the very prestigious Chair’s Special Award from the John F Meagher Foundation.
The Foundation has called Ukraine native, Iryna Shutak's work 'an incredible interpretation of the meaning of the Irish flag through Digital Art'.
They described her award-wining entry as follows:
"She developed her work from conception, sketching and colouring through to the finished piece. First photographed the local landscape and captured herself looking out the window of the transport on which this image is based. The key message is Ireland represents safety for her.”
Iryna's artwork described the flag as follows: "As a student from Ukraine, the Irish flag represents for me a peaceful place of high mountains, incredible, natural, an interesting and inclusive culture of polite and kind people. Most importantly, the Irish flag symbolises safety for me".
In a Facebook post, the college says they are very proud of her achievement.
"We are extremely proud Iryna Shutak has been awarded the very prestigious Chair’s Special Award from the John F Meagher Foundation,"
