Greencastle welcomes Seven Seas Splendor for maiden visit

Seven Seas Splendor on Lough Foyle this week.

The stunning ten-deck cruise ship Seven Seas Splendor arrived at Greencastle on her inaugural visit to Foyle Port on Thursday.

The ship, built in 2020, sails under the flag of the Marshall Islands and is owned by Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

Passengers are on a 13-day voyage from Copenhagen to Southampton and Thursday saw them take in sights including Doagh Famine Village and Grianan of Aileach.

The ship has a capacity for 746 guests and has 548 staff onboard.

Seven Seas Splendor is 224m long and 31m wide. Seven Seas Splendor arrived in Greencastle from Stornoway in Scotland and left again bound for Dun Laoghaire.

John McLaughlin, Donegal County Council’s Chief Executive joined counterparts from Visit Derry, Foyle Port and Hamilton Shipping for a symbolic plaque exchange with Captain Felice Patruno.
