Donegal looks set for a wet Friday, with showers forecast to turn into heavy rain and some thundery downpours.
Met Eireann has issued a Level Yellow severe weather alert for Donegal from this evening at 5pm until Saturday at 6am.
“Heavy rain with thundery downpours on Friday and Friday night, they said. “Strong winds at times along eastern facing coasts. Potential impacts include spot flooding and difficult travelling conditions.
“It will be mostly cloudy today with scattered outbreaks of rain this morning and afternoon along with a few limited bright spells. During the course of the evening, heavy and persistent rain will spread from the south bringing the potential for flooding, with thundery downpours.
“An increasingly blustery day with fresh to strong and gusty east to southeast winds. A humid day with highs of 17 to 21 degrees.”
Tomorrow is expected to be somewhat more favourable. Met Eireann continued: “A bright and breezy day is expected on Saturday with sunny spells and just the odd shower. Maximum temperatures of 18 to 21 degrees in fresh and gusty southwest winds.”
