Outstanding achievements for the Maghery band at the Easter parade

Maghery band experienced great success at the county’s Easter celebrations collecting six awards. 

The band retained three previous titles: the Senior Fife Competitive Section, the Best Band on Parade and the Best Drum Major. They also scooped three additional titles for Best Music, Best Drums and Best Presentation & Appearance.

The band was led by Erin O'Donnell who was awarded Best Drum Major of the day and collected the band’s six prizes. 

The band are very dedicated to performing their entertaining routines for the public having in recent years undertaken an East Coast USA tour and headlined at the prestigious Tattoo. 

They also stand as seven-time All-Ireland Champions. The band are continuing to develop their routine for future projects. They will now be working towards attending Wexford Fleadh for Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann this August in the hope of achieving their eighth consecutive All-Ireland win.

Dungloe will next be hosting the Donegal Fleadh from Friday, May 10 - Sunday, May 12.

The other senior Maghery Band were also among some awarded bands on the day and received an award for best performance in the performance-only section. 

The competitive style parade was hosted on Sunday and seen thirteen bands all participate and try to win the trophy. The participating bands were Meenacross band; Maghery band; Donegal Town band; Crickamore band; Mullaghduff band; Annagry band; Cloughaneely Band; Ranfast senior band; Ranfast band; Killybegs band; Maghery senior band; St Crona’s band, Dungloe; Maghery senior competitive band.

Easter Sunday in Dungloe is a true spectacle and testament to the many bands in Donegal and the Rosses who keep marching band traditions alive.
