Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to an alleged hit and run that left a man in a critical condition in Dublin.
The male pedestrian, aged in his 60s, was struck by a vehicle, which in turn left the scene of the collision on Main Street, Clonmany. The incident occurred at approximately 12:12am on Sunday.
The injured man was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital and has since been transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he remains in critical condition.
The vehicle's driver, Kevin Grant, 36, of Páirc Mór, Buncrana, was charged with eight offences at a special sitting of the Letterkenny District Court on Monday.
“We appeal to anybody who may have witnessed the collision to contact Gardaí,” Garda Shaun Sweeney said. “If anybody travelled in the area with a dash cam between midnight and 12am, we ask them to make the footage available to Gardaí. Gardaí in Buncrana may be contacted on 074-9320540. The Garda Confidential line may be reached on 1800 666 111.”
