Driver hospitalised after early morning crash near Portnoo

The R261 road between Maas and Portnoo at Ballyiriston, Portnoo remains closed following the single-vehicle collision just before 6am on Wednesday morning

A motorist has been hospitalised following a road traffic collision in Donegal on Wednesday morning.

The R261 road between Maas and Portnoo at Ballyiriston, Portnoo remains closed. Motorists are advised that local diversions are in place.

The driver of a car was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital to be treated for their injuries.

The single-vehicle collision occured shortly before 6am.

A Garda spokesperson has told Donegal Live that Gardai remain at the scene.

The spokesperson said: “No further information is available at this time.”
