The Bank of Ireland building in Moville and (inset) an impression of what the redevelopment will look like
The green light has been given for the redevelopment of the former Bank of Ireland in Moville.
Donegal County Council has granted conditional planning permission for the building to become a restaurant and a residential apartment.
Bank of Ireland closed its branch in the Foyleside town in September 2021 and Paul and Louise McElvaney are planning the redevelopment.
They sought permission for a change of use from the vacant bank building to a first-floor residential apartment, and a ground floor licensed restaurant, with demolition of rear single-storey extension and construction of new part two-storey and part single-storey rear extension.
That would include: Restaurant dining area; ancillary kitchen, toilets and stores.; external dining and smoking area; external ancillary stores.
The local authority granted permission, subject to seven conditions, including that the apartment that is the subject of the permission is to be used as a permanent house only and shall not be used for the purpose of a holiday home or as a short-term rental accommodation.
