Planning permission has been sought for the development
Plans have been lodged for the development of a new community group home in Carndonagh.
The proposed development is to provide supported living accommodation as part of the HSE’s ongoing national decongregation programme.
The Health Service Executive (HSE) North West is seeking planning permission for the refurbishment and extension of an existing dwelling at Moss Road, Churchland Quarters, Carndonagh.
The project will see the property transformed into a modern community group home, with works to include an extension, the decommissioning of an existing septic tank, and connection to public storm and foul drainage systems, along with all associated site works.
Once completed, the home will accommodate some residents transitioning from the James Connolly Memorial Residential Unit in Carndonagh, which has been identified for decongregation under national policy.

The HSE’s decongregation plan aims to move people with disabilities from large institutional settings into smaller, community-based homes where they can live more independently and be fully included in local community life.
