Funeral details confirmed for popular Letterkenny golfer, Mark Doherty

The late Mark Doherty, inset, was a popular member of Letterkenny Golf Club. His funeral will take place on Tuesday

The funeral of Mark Doherty, the Letterkenny man who died suddenly while on a golfing trip in Portugal, will take place on Tuesday.

Mark, who was 63 and originally from Strabane, was a popular member of Letterkenny Golf Club.

He was part of a group of friends from Letterkenny who were on their annual golfing trip to Vilamoura in Portugal. He died after taking ill out on the golf course on Monday, November 21, the day after they had arrived in Portugal.

A post mortem examination took place in Portugal earlier this week and his funeral details are as follows:

Mark’s remains will repose at his family home at 68 Thorndale, Letterkenny on Sunday, December 4 from 4pm.

Funeral Mass on Tuesday, December 6 at 11am in the Church of the Irish Martyrs, Letterkenny followed by burial in Umlagh Cemetery, Carrigart.

Mark was the beloved husband of Ann and much-loved father of Ciaran.

Predeceased by his father Willie and mother Harriet, Strabane. Deeply regretted by his brothers Terry, Kevin, Liam, Paul and sister Mary, Strabane and sister Aileen, London.

Sadly missed by the McAlaney family, Carrigart.

Fondly remembered by his extended family, neighbours and golfing friends.
