Margaret's passing leaves a huge void in Mullaghduff and the surrounding areas

Deep regret was occasioned by the death in late January of Mrs Margaret Boyle (Bernie), Mullaghduff, Kincasslagh, which took place in the Donegal Hospice, Letterkenny.

She had been unwell for some time and been a patient in Letterkenny University Hospital and finally in Donegal Hospice, where in both places, she received excellent care, for which her family are most grateful.

A native of Arlands, Burtonport, she was a member of the well-known Boner family. She was predeceased by her sister Ann and brother Jim.

In her youth, Margaret emigrated, firstly to London and then later to Edinburgh, where she worked in hotels. In 1968, she married her beloved husband Bernie and they emigrated to Leeds and stayed there until 1974, before returning to set up their family home in Mullaghduff.

They were a very popular couple and were there to help anyone in need. Noted for her neatness and tidiness, Margaret was immaculate. There was always a special welcome to the Boyle household. In the last couple of years of her life, Bernie was always there by her side.

Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt and she was proud of all her family circle. Her passing leaves a huge void in Mullaghduff and the surrounding areas.

Her funeral took place at Belcruit Cemetery, following mass in St. Mary's Church, Kincasslagh, concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Pat Ward, PP, assisted by Rev. Fr. Eamonn Kelly, PP, Raphoe and Fr. James Gillespie, PP, Donegal Town.

Fr Pat Ward officiated at the graveside. Her son Joe paid a lovely tribute to his Mum at the end of the mass and thanked all those who had helped in any way.

Music at the mass was by Paula Diver, accompanied by Pat Duffy on guitar. Readers at the mass were her granddaughters, Bradley and Darcie Boyle. Margaret is survived by her husband Bernie, daughter Roseanne, sons Joe (Principal of Deele College) and John Paul in Bahalla, Co Mayo, brothers George and Joe in Arlands, sister Margaret McHugh in Lackenagh, nephews, nieces, in-laws and a large family circle to whom the heartfelt sympathy of our community is extended.
