Lauren Callaghan of Finn Valley AC set a new Donegal long jump record on Saturday.

The Killygordon woman leapt to 6.24m at the UUJ Jumps and Throws meet.

Callaghan took gold with the effort in Jordanstown.

Her new mark wipes out Mary McLoone’s 6.07m, set in 2007 at the National Championship.

Callaghan’s jump is the second best by an Irish athlete this season - bettered only Elizabeth Ndudi’s national under-20 record of 6.29m.

Callaghan, who has been in the sport since her days at Dromore NS, is a student at DCU and is coached by Paul Wilkinson.

A 14.39m jump earned Tir Chonaill AC's Conall Mahon gold in the senior triple jump

Gavin McLaughlin of Finn Valley won the senior shot put (14.84m) while Tir Chonaill AC's Daire McDevitt claimed the under-19 shot (9.20m).

McDevitt also won the under-19 long jump crown when going out to 5.71m while Finn Valley AC's Joseph Gillespie was the senior long jump bronze medal winner.

Una Richardson of Rosses AC was the best under-16 long jumper with a 4.91m effort while Lifford-Strabane AC's Kayla Russell took the under-15 long jump when leaping to 4.60m.

Aoife McGeehan from Olympian YAC was the silver medal winner in the under-15 shot with Rosses AC's Eva Logue taking bronze.

Logue won gold in the under-15 high jump (1.40m) while her club colleague Aoife McGonagle was third.

Oisin Gillespie took the under-15 long jump gold. The Rosses AC athlete touched the sand at 5.09m and he also topped the high jump charts with a 1.70m jump.

Mark Wilkinson was the under-15 long jump silver medallist, the Finn Valley AC lad going out to 4.98m and he also took high jump silver, clearing 1.65m.
