Paddy McShane's bid for a second Irish Elite flyweight title was ended on Saturday.
The Letterkenny Boxing Club man was beaten by Holy Family's Jordan Smith in a quarter-final.
McShane was on the wrong end of a 4-1 split decision at the National Stadium. Smith overcame 2015 Elite champ Myles Casey on Friday night and continued a fine weekend by sending McShane to the exit.
McShane won the Irish flyweight title in October, 2021,defeating Paudraic Downey from Antrim on a 3-2 split decision.
McShane's defeat means Illies Golden Gloves light-middle Matthew McCole is the sole Donegal representative in the semi-finals.
Southpaw McCole goes up against Jon McConnell of Holy Trinity in one of Friday's 71kgs semi-finals.
Olympic bronze medallist Aidan Walsh and four-time elite champion Dean Walsh are in a blockbuster clash in the other light-middleweight semi-final.
Three-time Irish Colleges champion McCole won a bronze medal at the 2022 FISU University World Cup Combat Sports in Turkey.
The ATU Donegal student defeated Hungary’s Soma Mester in his quarter-final, guaranteeing a place in the semi-final, but a clash of heads forced his withdrawal from the semi-final.
