Letterkenny AC's Ciaran McGonagle has been named in the Irish team that will compete at the Anglo Celtic Plate 100k.

McGonagle is a member of an 11-person team, six men and five women, for the event on April 2 at South Lake Leisure Centre in Craigavon, Co. Armagh.

The Anglo Celtic Plate 100k Home International plays an important role in developing athletes at distances beyond the marathon and to prepare athletes for future opportunities at European and World Championships.

The Anglo Celtic Plate will also incorporate the Athletics Ireland 100Km Championships as part of an Open Race

In December, Burtonport native McGonagle won the Lanzarote International Marathon in 2:33:27.

At the British and Irish Open International Masters Cross Country at Santry, McGonagle was 15th in 27:02 having been fifth at the Donegal Cross Country Championships
