Finn Valley AC’s 4x200m women set a new Ulster record on Sunday.
In winning their heat at the National Indoor League on Sunday at the TUS Arena in Athlone, the Finn Valley women set new club, Donegal and Ulster marks.
Arlene Crossan, Sinead Gallagher, Janine Boyle and Hannah Murray finished in 1:43.07.
Given they were comfortable winners, the indications are that this Finn Valley foursome can go quicker still.
Their win and some solid performances may well have posted the signposts to the final for Finn Valley AC.
Bridget McDyer won the weight for distance to continue her fine run of form.
McDyer threw a best of 5.92m to take top sport.
McDyer was well ahead of Ratoath’s Ciara O’Sullivan, who reached out to 5.10m.
Murray finished second in her 400m, timing - fine 56.84 seconds.
Sinead McConnell finished third in the 1500m walk, the Castlefin woman crossing the line in 8:06.09
Aine Kerr finished fourth in the triple jump, thanks to a best jump of 10.18m while Catriona Devine was seventh in the 1500m in 4:59.97.
In guest races, Crossan was second and Gallagher fourth in a 200m while Boyle was fourth in a 60m and a 200m.
Letterkenny AC’s Kathryn McDevitt won a guest 60m sprint in 8.42 seconds and finished fourth in a 200m.
Lucy McGlynn of Tir Chonaill AC was second in a 60m hurdles in 8.68 seconds.
McGlynn also came second in a 400m, finishing in 56.80 seconds.
Letterkenny AC duo Joseph Aidoo and Fern Duffy were third in 200m races.
European Under-18 silver medallist Fintan Dewhirst (Tir Chonaill AC) was fourth in a 400m.
