Declan Ferry picks up the shield after winning and (inset) Nakita Burke.

Declan Ferry won the Hugh Gallagher Memorial 5k in Milford on Friday night with Nakita Burke setting a new female course record.

Ferry won the race outright, the Rosses AC man clocking 15 minutes and 23 seconds to maintain his excellent form on the Donegal roads this year.

Ferry is unbeaten on the local road race circuit so far in 2023.

Letterkenny AC’s Raymond Birch was second in 16:13.

Burke, also a Letterkenny AC runner, came third overall and won the female race.

Burke, who has been in good form of late too, crossed the line in 16:14. Burke won the 2022 version in 16:43.

There were a total of 142 participants on the line in Friday’s event.
