Kathryn McDevitt digs deep to win in Grangemouth.

Kathryn McDevitt starred at the Scottish Masters Athletics Championships on Saturday.

The Letterkenny AC woman set new championship best performances to win the 200m and 400m.

McDevitt clocked 27.32 seconds for gold in the 200m at the Grangemouth Stadium. Lourdes Bradley of North Shield was her nearest challenger, crossing the line in 29.61.

That time bested the 27.68 seconds set by Nina Cessford last year.

McDevitt followed up in superb style by winning the 400m. After a lap of the stadium, McDevitt ducked over the line in 62.03 seconds.

Laura Haggarty from Kilmarnock took silver in 62.25 seconds. McDevitt’s 400m time eclipsed Haggarty’s 63.65 seconds to win last year.

The time over 400m is also a new personal best for McDevitt, who was a double gold medal winner at the 2022 World Masters Athletics Championship in Finland, helping Ireland to win the W40 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

This year, at the World Masters Indoor Championships in Poland, McDevitt and Ireland were the bronze medalists in the 4x200m relay.
