Day one of the 2023 Knockalla Hill Climb threw up thrills and spills aplenty on the famous hill.
It is an iconic stretch of tar in rallying circles across the globe and the sun shone down for some of Saturday for the crowds overlooking Ballymastoker Bay.
The Knockalla Hill Climb has had a bumper entry and acts as a round of Irish Hill Climb Championship
The Danny Gormley Memorial trophy, The John Lenister trophy and the new Two Day Rally Challenge are all up for grabs.
Mac Walsh led the way on day one in the rally challenge with the locals all enjoying good battles. David Kane in a silvercar is leading the way with the likes of Joseph Kelly, Gary McEvoy, JP and John Logue, Brendan Kelly and Dara Bonner all in a shake-up in the various events.
The event is running again throughout Sunday with the road closed until 6pm.
The Two Day Rally Challenge is a prize designed specifically for the clubman rally classes and is all about the driving skill of consistency over the two days.
A driver’s most consistent two times each day will be scored and whichever driver is the most consistent up the hill will win the prize.
Kelly Toyota are the main sponsors with associate sponsors Callaghan Transport, DMG Motors and CBM Signs also on board.
