Serena Caravelli of Italy won in 25.67 seconds with another Italian, Annachiara De Pippo, third in 27.37 seconds to also seal a place.

McDevitt passed Evangelia Dragazi of Greece on the bend and got beyond De Pippo coming onto the straight with Great Britain’s Naana Adusei also coming on strong.

McDevitt will also compete in the 400m and 4x100m in Pescara.

Earlier this year, at the World Masters Indoor Championships in Poland, McDevitt and Ireland were the bronze medalists in the 4x200m relay.

Also on Saturday, Catriona Devine of Finn Valley was affected by a cold and finished seventh in the W45 1500m. Devine crossed the line in 5:10.13.

Finn Valley AC’s Garvin Boyce was in 1500m action on Friday. The Ramelton native finished his heat in 5:21, but did not advance.

Finn Valley AC’s Kay Byrne and Milford native Brian Boyce, who competes for An Riocht in Kerry, are also set for action in the coming days.
