Finn Valley AC athlete Cara Laverty helped Providence College to team silver at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships.

Laverty finished in 19th spot with Providence concluding on 56 points, ahead of Villanova in third. Georgetown won on 28 points, led by race winner Chloe Scrimgeour.

At the Wayne Dannehl Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Laverty was the fifth Providence runner home.

Kimberley May was second and Shannon Flockhart was ninth, backed up by Laura Mooney (12th), Reese Fahys (14th) and Laverty.

In August 2022, Laverty took up a scholarship at Providence College in Rhode Island.

The Friars have placed in the top two teams 23 times during the history of the BIG EAST Championship, which began in 1982 and this was a second consecutive runners-up spot.
