Donegal adventure athletes Shaun Stewart and Shane McGowan secured podium finishes at the Westport Sea 2 Summit on Saturday.

Ards man Stewart was second in the supreme category.

Stewart finished in two hours, 47 minutes and 30 seconds. Winner Alan Dunne came home in 2:46:35 with third-placed Ben Walsh clocking 2:49:02.

Bundoran’s McGowan, who has played senior Gaelic football for Donegal, was third in the sprint category.

McGowan finished in 1:39:14. The sprint section was won by Paul Feeney in 1:33:52 with David Hickey second in 1:37:56.

The Sea 2 Summit is described as being for ‘the participant who wants an extra challenge’.

The race incorporates Croagh Patrick, Clew Bay, the Sheaffry Mountains and the new Greenway.
