A Donegal man was in the corner of British heavyweight Daniel Dubois, who picked up a potentially career-saving win,

Dubois stopped brash American Jarrell Miller in Saudi Arabia.

The Greenwich heavyweight, a former WBA heavyweight champion, had Mullaghduff man Ciaran Duffy among his corner.

Duffy was part of Dubois’ team alongside Don Charles, Ian Duberry and Tony Pill.

The fonder of Duffy Boxing in London, he fought as a pro between 2001 and 2010, bowing out with a 10-2-1 record.

Among his victories was a 2007 points win over Rocky Muscus at the Clanree Hotel in Letterkenny in a super-welterweight contest.

Duffy has also worked with Tony Yoka, the 2016 Olympic super-heavyweight gold medalist who is 11-3 as a professional, and unbeaten Iranian prospect ‘Razor Ali’ (8-0, 1KO).

After a defeat by Oleksandr Usyk in August and with a 2020 loss to Joe Joyce still lingering, Dubois was in must-win territory as he took his place on the ‘Day Of Reckoning’ card in Riyadh.

The bout was on the undercard to Anthony Joshua’s win over Otto Wallin on a night that featured a stunning win for Joseph Parker - trained by Andy Lee - against Deontay Wilder.

Dubois broke Miller in the dying seconds of their bout. With only eight seconds to go, referee Michael Alexander stepped in to wave it off.

Miller, who weighed 100lb more, was rocked by a sharp right hook, swiftly followed by a deadly right cross from Dubois. The punches rained in on Miller and Dubois moves to 20-2, 19KOs.

"It really mattered and that was a big moment," Dubois said. "It was a great fight and I'm glad I came through it. I showed my heart," he continued. "I knew I had to get out there and work.
