Joey O'Hora has his hand raised in victory.

Joey O’Hora surged through to the semi-finals of the National Under-18 Championships at the weekend.

The Twin Towns middleweight overcame Danny Tsui in a quarter-final on Saturday.

At the National Stadium, O’Hora was declared the winner of their 75kgs joust by unanimous decision. Tsui, of Star of the Sea, was outgunned by the Donegal puncher.

O’Hora was the sole Donegal representative to make it out of this weekend’s action.

O’Hora now joins his Twin Towns BC colleague Lani Lafferty in the semi-finals with O’Hora slated to meet Daniel McDonagh from Geesala, who defeated Portlaoise’s Patrick O’Reilly via a 4-1 split decision. In the other middleweight semi-final, Edward Barrett (Titans) will face Reuben Aigbologa (Mayfield).

Lafferty will go against Kyla Doyle from Whitechurch in a 66kgs semi-final.

Ryley Doherty of Raphoe Boxing Club did win a quarter-final on Saturday. Doherty defeated Stanza’s Liam Carroll on a unanimous decision, but then succumbed to John Harty from Portlaoise in a 57kgs semi-final on Sunday. Harty stopped Doherty inside the first round.

On Friday night, Dunfanaghy’s former Irish champion Conor Durning - the Irish Youth 2 57kgs champ last year - was beaten by Jamie Graham (Clonard) 5-0 at 57kgs while at 71kgs Kieran Cunningham of Carndonagh BC lost out on a 4-1 split to Charlie Valsbergs (Cherry Orchard).

At 63.5kgs, Raphoe BC’s Jack McElroy lost to Charleville’s Johnathan O’Donnell on a 5-0 decision.
